Celebration of Trees is a longstanding Albany tradition, and Willamette Community Bank is proud to be part of it.

Every year, we join with local businesses and organizations around the valley in sponsoring and decorating trees, which are auctioned off at the annual holiday fundraiser. This two-night event benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Albany, which supports families in our community by providing many basic necessities they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

For example, the Club’s after-school programs and summer camps give working families safe, affordable childcare options, and their athletics program provides many children with the opportunity to learn and play a variety of sports. The Boys and Girls Club also offers dental care and education to children and youth at no cost to their families.

The first evening of the Celebration is Community Night, when all of the creatively decorated, donated trees are placed on display for the public to admire. Community members can vote for their favorites while enjoying light refreshments and holiday choir performances at this free event.

The second night is a ticketed dinner and live auction. Honors are awarded in various categories, and the trees are auctioned to the highest bidder. Throughout the holiday season, many of them can be seen in offices, lobbies, and waiting rooms across the valley.

This year, the theme for our tree is “Letters to Santa.” Our decorating team spends hours planning, gathering supplies, and creating our trees for this Celebration, and it shows. Last year, thanks to an anonymous donor who matched the highest bid for our “Woodland Wonderland” tree, our contribution brought in $8,800 to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Albany!

“Our compass — the core value of Willamette Community Bank — is right there in our name,” said Kerry Johnson, Board Chairman. “The same year we opened our doors, we started sponsoring Celebration of Trees, because we support our community. We’re family. That’s important.”

It’s true: we live here. We see firsthand how much organizations like Boys and Girls Club mean to our families, friends, and neighbors, and we want to help them accomplish even more in the community we call home. Join us this December as we give back to hardworking Willamette Valley families by supporting this amazing cause.

Community Night for the 2019 Celebration of Trees will take place on December 4th. Come enjoy festive refreshments and choral music, and vote for your favorite trees!
